100% Remy Human Hair
Hip Hats With Hair has upgraded to Remy Human hair. Remy human hair means that the
cuticle is intact. Hair that has it's cuticle intact is stronger, bouncier, and
more
durable than hair that has had it's cuticle removed. In the past Hip Hats used
non-cuticle hair with satisfactory results. However, the hair industry has changed,
and the quality of non-cuticle hair has declined. Although remy hair is more expensive,
we have found that our customers prefer the look and feel of remy human hair.
In addition to our remy human hair, Hip Hats will soon be available in Advanced
Fiber Hair. "AFH" is a new type of synthetic hair that can be styled with heat--just
like human hair! Hip Hats have never before been offered in a synthetic hair, howerver
the latest advancements in synthetic fibers have made "AFH" a very attractive
alternative! Our full line-up of colors will be available in August 2008.
Some colors are in stock now. If you are interested in our Advanced Fiber Hair,
please give us a call.
The human hair industry is changing; the demand for human hair is high, while supply
is low. Hair extensions and hairpieces are now in fashion, increasing demand. And
supply is low, because the major suppliers of human hair--china and India--are becoming
more modern. That means fewer woman are letting their hair grow as long as
they used to. In addition, they are not as poor as they were, so they are
not selling their hair.
And to top it off, the dollar has fallen in value abroad.
A Crash Course in Human Hair:
Why the Industry is Changing:
Asian hair is still the main source of hair in the world, next
to Indian hair. Asian hair is available in longer lengths and has a thicker
hair shaft than Indian hair. Also, Asian hair is straight, and Indian hair has
more body. The term “European Hair” usually means that it is of Indian/Turkish
origin. Russian hair is often used in the film industry because the hair has a
flatter sheen and looks realistic under harsh photographic lights. Although
there are differences in the characteristics of human hair, there is no
difference in the quality of the hair because of it’s racial origin. Rather it
is the grading and processing techniques that ensure quality. Nearly all hair
used in the hair replacement industry is non-cuticle hair. Cuticle is the outer
layer of hair that looks like scales. Most of the cuticle is removed before
coloring or perming. The hair is then sewn or tied into a finished product. If
the cuticle were not removed, and some hairs are placed with it’s cuticle
downwards, and some hairs are placed with it’s cuticle upwards, the hair would
tangle. Hence, the cuticle is removed to ensure that the hair does not tangle.
Hair that has more of it’s cuticle intact, is called Remy Hair. Remy Hair is
hand- drawn to ensure that all cuticle runs downward. Naturally, it is much
more expensive. Remy hair has some performance advantages to non-cuticle hair, although both are processed. “Virgin” hair is of the
highest quality, because it has never been processed in any way. It is most
often used for custom wigs costing thousands of dollars. Caring for non-cuticle
hair is as easy as that of any human hair but with special considerations:
Treat the hair gently and condition often. Also, do not use protein shampoos or
conditioners as protein is drying. Full care instructions are provided with
your order.
