AFH Hair Care
Advanced Fiber Hair is nearly indestructable! If it gets tangled or mangled, it
can be restored. We let Gracie play tug-of-war with this Underhair. It only took
about 30 minutes to restore the hair.
A Hip Hat With AFH is easy to care for. Expensive shampoos or conditioners are
not necessary. AFH can be washed in any type of detergent for clothing, or in
any shampoo. Conditioner adds a nice feel to the hair.
Once you set a style, you won't have to style it again--unless you want to.
Washing or wetting the hair will not change the style. Heat changes the style.
To keep the style in, wash in cool water, not hot. Pour a little detergent into
a sink of cool water. Dip the whole thing--hair and fabric into the solution. Swish
gently. Rinse in cool running water. Squeese out excess water. Pour a small
amount of conditioner into a sink of cool water. Dip the hair portions into the
solution. Squeese out excess water. If it feels like too much conditioner, rinse
some out.
1. Remove leaves, sticks, etc.
2. Make a slippery solution of cool water and hair conditioner in the sink or tub.
Dip the hair in the solution.
3. Comb out the tangles. Divide the hair into smaller sections at a time and work
from the bottom up. Dont force through the snarls--be gentle and patient.
4. Run the hair under very hot water. Keep the hair straight as you do this.
Pull the hair out from the hot water, while keeping it straight, and let it cool
several seconds before disturbing it.
5. Trim the ends of the hair from straggles. Restyle the hair.
Heat works a little differently on AFH then it does on human hair. Heat softens
this fiber, while cooling it sets the shape. For example, the heat of a curling
iron softens the hair. Pull the hot iron out, but don't let the heated hair
fall out of the curl just yet. Give it a few seconds to cool off. Then let go.
However the hair is as it cools, is how it stays. One easy way to curl the whole
hairpiece is to set it in rollers. Dip it in very hot water. Let it cool,
then take out the rollers.
Hang wet hair on a wig stand to dry. Or, you can use a hair-dryer, but keep
the temerature on low if you don't want to change the style. To set a
style, or change it, use heat. Use a curling iron, or flat iron, etc, between 200-356
degrees. Spritzing the hair with water will help to disperse the heat.
